A well-groomed dog should have a healthy skin, teeth, nails and hair. It will be clean, healthy and manageable. Dog grooming includes the habit of maintaining the appearance of the dog by washing, hair clipping, nail clipping, hair styling, and teeth cleaning. Dog grooming also involves the way to prevent your dogs from all kinds of infections. It includes periodontal disease [uncared teeth are the cause for this], ear infections, yeast infections by matted hair.

5 Dog Grooming Tips

• The very basic step of dog grooming is to gather all the necessary tools. You should have the things to clean the eyes, to trim the nails, to clean the ears, to brush the teeth, to bath and dry your lovely dog.
• Thoroughly brush your dog’s teeth regularly. Enlarged mats are the main cause for yeast infection. Cut out the mat and prevent from bacterial growth. Use curry brush, glove for shorthaired dogs and use special tools such as slicker, a pin brush, undercoat rake for medium and long coated dogs. Our objective is to remove unwanted hair, do not forget to apply oil.
• Before bathing your dog, trim out unwanted hairs, which will watste your time in shampooing and drying it.
• Carefully clean your dogs eye using tear stains removing products available in the market. Prevent your pets eye from all type of irritations.
• Remove the extra wax from the dogs ears. But there will be a little amount of wax in a clean ear, but there will be no smell at all. Clean the ears with any ear cleaning solution, do not forget to dilute them in normal water. Don't handle the ears roughly, they may cause damage to your pets ears. Rub then smoothly and gently. Don't dig deep into the ears it may spoil the ear drums. If you find any wounds or sores discharging pus with bad smell, then call your veterinarian.
