Dog gave birth to seventeen puppies

Talk about puppy love -- one dog has spawned a bit of a record, giving birth to a whopping 17 pups at a veterinarian's office in Israel.

Dogs don't usually have litters this big and the vet who helped deliver this one says it took a lot for the mom to carry them.

As luck would have it, the mother also came from a larger than average litter.

Vets performed a C-section on the mom to help bring the baby dogs into the world. Four assistants were on hand to help care for the puppies and clean them up. The entire procedure took about 30 minutes.

Two of the puppies are said to be weak, so the vet is concerned about them, but the rest of them and the mother are doing fine.
