Dog fighting sends two to jail
A dogfight over the weekend unfolded into a potentially dangerous situation. Now two men are in custody and the pit bulls are being held at animal control.
In their cage the dogs look peaceful as can be, but their scars tell a different story. "I don't like to see people make dogs fight,"says Willie Sharp.
On Sunday the two pit bulls were involved in a dog fight at Bellemeade Park. Willie sharp lives across the street from the park, and he saw the fight and the nearly 300 people in the area.
"Everybody wants to show off their dog and one or two might want to make them fight just to get the crowd going,"says Willie Sharp.
Jonathan Adams and Dewone Broomfield were arrested for pitting the dogs against each other, in what Monica Freeman, with animal control, says was a potentially dangerous situation. "Anytime there is a dog in an aroused state there is the possibility of a bite,"says Monica.
The two pit bulls were taken to animal control where officials say its unclear what's going happen to them next. The dogs were caught before anyone was hurt, but Sharp says he wasn't going anywhere near the park.
Police believe the fight was an isolated incident, and animal control says it doesn't appear either dog had been in a fight before. Police say both men involved face animal fight charges, and ask if there is any information you have about dog fighting to let them know.
