Register your Dog every year
It is important to register your dog every year. If you haven\'t already registered for 2008-2009, you risk having your dog seized and impounded by dog control officers.
Annual registration: It is important to register your dog every year as part of being a responsible dog owner.
If your dog is lost, he or she can be quickly and easily identified using a registration tag.
All dogs over the age of three months must be registered. Each dog should be registered at the address where they spend the majority of time. If you are the owner of a dog the registration guidelines are:
only one person can be the registered owner of a dog
if you are under 16 years of age, the dog must be registered under a parent\'s or guardian\'s name
the registration period is from 1 July - 30 June each year
you must pay registration fees
you can reduce the registration fee if you have your dog de-sexed and/or by obtaining a dog owner licence
you could be issued with a $300 fine or be prosecuted for not registering a dog.
A dog must wear a colour coded registration disc to show it has been registered for that year (the 2007/2008 colour is yellow, the 2008/2009 colour is blue).
Renew registration: If your dog has been previously registered with Auckland City Council, you should receive a renewal notice in late May or early June of each year.
When you receive your renewal form you can:
renew your registration online (conditions apply)
send the registration form and payment to Dog Registration, Auckland City Council
visit any Auckland City Council service centre.
If you haven\'t received your renewal form by the second week of June, please download a registration form (74kb PDF) and send your payment to us. Unfortunately you will not be able to renew your registration online.
Please note: You will not be able to complete your registration online if any of the following information is missing from the renewal form or has changed since the last registration year:
class of dog ,your address , change of owner , date of birth of owner. Remember to pay on or before 1 August 2008 to avoid a late fee.
Everyone who registers before 1 August 2008 will go into the draw to win $200 worth of shopping vouchers. There are five prizes to be won.

if your dog has been de-sexed, you will need to supply a copy of the veterinary certificate
if you have successfully completed a dog owner licence test, ensure you have supplied a copy of your dog owner licence with your registration form.
